Francisco Castro Lostalo, Sculptor and Painter

Francisco, our Founder, Artistic Director and General Manager, is a figurative sculptor, painter and multi-media artist with extensive experience as an art instructor.  He teaches, inspires, challenges and charms our students in stone and ceramic sculpture, watercolor, acrylic & oil painting, and drawing.

The Artists Refuge is the realization of Francisco's long-time dream to establish a school of art in his native country.  He is passionate about his work as an artist in his own right and as an active member of Costa Rica's community of artists.  He regularly leads and supports projects that enhance national and international appreciation of Costa Rica's historic and contemporary art.
